Osteopath Therapy
Why consult ?
Osteopathy aims at the recovery and the prevention of dysfunctions. A few preventive visits every year prevents or reduces the appearance of symptoms or the settling of compensatory posture, therefore reducing the risks of recurrence.
An osteopath can help you for:
-
Muscular and tendinous problems
-
Pain and reduction of articular mobility
-
Degenerative and inflammatory trouble
-
Spine trouble
-
Post-traumatic consequences (car, sport or work accident)
-
Some digestive problems (gastric reflux, heartburns, slow digestion, constipation)
-
Nervous system trouble (depression)
-
Cardiopulmonary symptoms (asthma, circulatory disorders)
-
Some ORL symptoms (sinusitis, otitis, vertigo, tinnitus)
-
Urogenital system trouble (recurrent urinary infections, urinary incontinence urge, prostate, menstrual problems, fertility)
-
Pregnancy problems (pain, pregnancy follow up, preparation to childbirth, post-partum follow-up)
-
Birth and growth problems (cranial deformation (forceps, suction disk, disrupted sleep, otitis, regurgitation, colic, scoliosis).
Course of a session
Every individual having his own compensation mechanism, only a precise evaluation allows the osteopath to prescribe the adapted treatment.
Consequently, the session starts with a rigorous osteopathic questionnaire intended to find out your trouble and your case history. Subsequently, tests are made to determine the origin and the cause of the lesions at the level of the different systems.
The treatment consists in gentle manual techniques on muscles, ligaments, fascias, articulations, skull, viscera, glands, nerve and vascular system, etc.
Finally, to strengthen the treatment and avoid relapsing of the problem, the osteopath proposes to the patient postural work, specific exercises along with pertinent advices.
Duration of a treatment
Unfortunately, it is difficult foresee the precise duration of an osteopathic treatment, needs being distinct from one patient to another. However, in the majority of cases, a session can last from 45 minutes to one hour.
For information only, from 1 to 10 sessions often suffice to restore equilibrium of the different structures and their functions to free the patient of the problem for which he consulted.
Of course, the participation of the patient (exercises, postural work, etc.) favours the reaching of the goal.
Movement is life, life is movement!
Lisane Verville D.O. (Osteopath):
I utilize a manual therapy that does not employ the use of medications, nor instruments. Diagnostic and treatment procedures solely consist of manual palpations.
The different fields of action used in osteopathy are:
-
The musculoskeletal sphere (neck, upper back or lower back pain, tendonitis, additional monitoring of pregnancy, childbirth preparation)
-
The abdominal and pelvic sphere (digestion problems, bloating, constipation)
-
The cranial sphere (headaches, stress / fatigue, dizziness, insomnia).
